Birth

Women's bodies are ideally designed to give birth. Physiological birth is made easier when you feel safe, so that you can surrender to the experience. Being cared for by people you know and trust increases your likelihood of having a normal birth, and being satisfied with the experience. It can also reduce the need to use pain relieving drugs, although of course these are available to you if you choose.

After you book with us, we will be on call for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year and are always happy to discuss what you are feeling over the telephone.
We are happy to facilitate home births, water births, and vaginal births after caesarean at home. We are also experienced in breech births and twin births. We are expert in supporting families who have had a previous traumatic birth experience.

During your pregnancy we will discuss the signs of labour, coping techniques, and how you would like to be cared for. When your labour starts we would normally visit you at home and one of us will remain with you throughout the birth. If you are having a home birth, a second midwife will join us shortly before the baby is born. If you choose to give birth in hospital, we will accompany you and provide support.
